The next Eve expansion, Empyrean Age, is being released this summer. It’s already on the test server.

Awesome. The main feature will be factional warfare. You or your entire corporation align with one of the four major factions. There’s a special agent called a Factional Warfare agent which assigns missions for you to go into enemy territory and cause trouble for isk, faction, and titles. If you have enough victories in the complex your group can attack the System Control Bunker and gain control of the system.
This may be just what Eve needs. Some PVP lite that gets pilots who are normally carebears introduced to the world of PVP. Since most of the fighting will take place in lowsec it may be a way to populate lowsec more since the systems are so empty now.
It looks exciting on paper; we’ll see what develops.
